Modular Photonics’ MCMUX series are state-of-the-art 3D waveguide-based multicore fibre fanout devices.

The MCMUX devices are suitable for Data Centre interconnectivity when using next generation multicore optical fibres. MCMUX devices offer small footprint and ultra-low insertion losses.

The MCMUX fanout devices can be tailor made to suit all commercially available multicore fibres.

Modular Photonics’ OMPlex retrofit technology enables existing legacy multi-mode (OM1-4, 50 and 62.5 micron) fibre to be operated like a single-mode fibre when using single-mode transceivers.

This retrofit technology therefore avoids the need for recabling, avoiding expensive service interruptions or building works in data centres. The technology allows for upgrades to 10G, 40G and beyond over links as long as 2 km. Case Study: The OMPlex Pro and OMPlex devices have recently been validated in a data centre in Australia at up to 40 Gbps and 10 Gbps, respectively, across multiple connectors consisting of MTP trunk cabling.
