Modular Photonics offers solutions for upgrading and future proofing legacy multi-mode fibre networks without recabling using its OMPlex retrofit technology.
The OMPlex technology consists of compact modules which connect to the ends of the multi-mode (OM1-4, 50 or 62.5 micron) fibre. Using single-mode transceivers, the modules allow for single-mode performance to be realized across the existing multi-mode fibre link. This solution increases the data rate possible by up to 1000x at 1/10th the cost of recabling (based on an underground high-speed link). Applications include data centres, multi-building campuses (schools, universities, hospitals, technology parks etc), sports arenas & malls and mining.
